On Tuesday the world’s biggest spectacle of automotive modification—The SEMA Show—kicked off in Las Vegas, Nevada. To the delight of Ford fans, the Blue Oval put on an awesome showing inside and outside the convention center. Of course, the car that clearly set out to steal the show was the 2015 Mustang, which earned yet another Hottest Car Award from the Specialty Market Manufacturers’ Association.

It’s not big surprise that The SEMA Show’s coveted hottest car award was once again bestowed on the Ford Mustang.

While there were certainly plenty of other Ford cars and trucks on display, we couldn’t help but be excited about seeing a herd of modified 2015 Mustangs. With the real cars just leaving dealer lots scant weeks ago, it is rare to lay eyes on a stock S550, much less see multiple heavily modified versions of the latest Mustang.

From finally getting to see these modified Mustangs in person to laying eyes on a massive number of new products for all manner of Fords, this show is a feast for the senses, and it will keep us running all week long.

We will wrap up the show with more comprehensive coverage in the near future, but for now we wanted to share a few highlights from the big first day.

On the main stage at Ford’s annual press conference, Ford Racing’s Jamie Allison revealed the 2015 Mustang King Cobra concept car. Basically it is the .99 Challenge 10-second GT wearing all of Ford Racing’s speed parts and a snake-skin treatment from Competition Graphics.

Hellion Power Systems showed off it’s all new twin-turbo system for the 2015 Mustang GT. The kit is said to push the new-school Coyote to over 750 rear-wheel horsepower, and Hellion’s main man John Urist says it’s an easier install than the S197 Coyote system.

One of the coolest products we saw on the first day was the nGauge from E-Motion Products. Not only does this unit serve up data from your vehicle’s OBD-II port, this gauge also serves as a flash tuner. Both HP Tuners and Livernois Motorsports are signed on to support this gauge tuner with calibrations.

Ford Racing offered out a tour de force of 2015 Mustang parts for us to ogle. From an oil separator to its supercharger system, the factory speed merchants had something for everyone. Most impressive was its display of the IRS featuring one side with stock parts and one with the FRPP upgrades.

Knowing EcoBoost Mustangs are on the performance fast track these days, it was great to see a wide variety of upgrades for the turbo 2.3. On that stopped us in our tracks was this massive charge-cooler upgrade from Vortech. This kit is said to nearly eliminate heat soak without dropping boost.

After writing about many of these SEMA Mustang in advance of the show, it was so cool to see them in person. If you missed our story on the CGS Performance S550, you definitely should go read it. This car and its 24-inch rear wheels was definitely all that it we thought it would be. It looks even better in person.

You know your author has a soft spot for carbon fiber, so laying eyes on this carbon-fiber engine cover and coil cover set from Tru Fiber made me want an S550 even more.

We also brought you a comprehensive look at the create of Watson Racing’s 2015 Mustang drag star, and it was great to see this high-performance machine holding court in the Ford display. The Watson team hopes to have it out testing in the near future, and we can’t wait to see it make a hit.

We also had our first opportunity to lay eyes on Moroso’s new coolant tank for the 2015 Mustang. The stock plastic bubble has numerous detractors, so we expect to see these aluminum beauties popping up under S550 hoods.

Another car we detailed for you leading up to the show was Rey Rivera’s Neil Tjin-designed Vortech booth star. As you know, it was a race to get this car to the show, but they Vortech team did it, and it attracted a lot of day-one attention on the show floor. Rey hopes to hit the dyno with it after the show, so hold on tight for some numbers.

I’m zooming/saving a number of the photos you posted for a closer study. Before you leave Vegas Steve, can you get any clearer shots of some of the placards (so we don’t have to wait for months for them to show up in the FRPP catalog)? Here’s an example that is tough to discern…
