News: Shelby GT350 Drag Test?

It appears Ford was drag-testing the Shelby GT350 and GT350R in Florida

By Steve Turner

It’s a little cold in the D for drag testing. Based in a new video making its way around the Internet, it appears that Ford flew south to run its top-shelf Mustangs down the drag strip.

That sure looks like a GT350 and a GT350R at the drag strip to us.

In a shaky phone camera video, we see that none other than stick-shift hot shoe and former magazine editor, Evan Smith, is seen getting out of one of these cars. As such, it would stand to reason that Ford was looking to put down an impressive street-tire pass in the latest high-performance Mustangs.

They were spotted at Bradenton Motorsports Park, which will soon host the NMRA Ford Drag Racing season opener.

We say Mustangs, because it is clear—based on the body work and wheels on the two camouflaged cars in the Blair-Witch-style video —that these are indeed the Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R. Watch for yourself right here:

Now, we would assume that they were running with the clocks off, because BMP is right along Highway 64. Doing otherwise would be brazen, as the camo ’Stangs clearly led to the poster of this video to stop and have a peek.

The questions remain how quickly the cars ran, and how quickly that information might make its way onto the Internet?

And, it appears that Evan Smith was piloting these cars at Bradenton Motorsports Park.
