It might be sleek and fast, but the 2015 Mustang is also one of the safest cars on the road, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Thanks to all the improvements in the 2015 Mustang—including double the number of airbags found in the previous model—it earned a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA.

“The new Mustang was built from the ground up,” Carl Widmann, Mustang chief engineer, said. “It is more refined, more powerful and it has everything people have come to love about Mustang for the past 50 years.”

As part of the NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program, the Mustang was tested against a series of threats. In those tests, it passed with flying colors, earning the coveted five-star rating in the frontal-crash test, the side crash test, and the rollover test. Add it all up, and the Mustang took home an overall five-star rating.

So, you can not only feel good about how great your new Mustang performs, but how safe you are driving it.
