Juggernaut Power​ is building a 200-mph S550​ supercar you can buy

Regular readers of this page will know that back in March we introduced a new player on the tuner Mustang scene—Juggernaut Power. Founded by mega Mustang enthusiasts Rey Rivera and Ken McAlister, the company began as an online performance retailer and via a partnership with Bowen’s Garage is making a huge push into the world of tuner Mustangs.

We got our hands on an updated rendering of the Juggernaut Power Alpha Male. The team at the company’s Track Vehicle Group are still finalizing the specs for its top-level Mustang, but they are promising the car will run over 200 mph in the standing mile and 10-second quarter mile e.t.’s on the drag strip.

“Our company is an online retailer of late-model performance parts. Our inventory selection is very deep with high quality parts, and it is continuously growing with new vendor lines. We want to make the customers online experience a simple one, by removing the fluff and presenting our customers with solid products, quality customer service, with competitive pricing,” Rey told us back in March. “Juggernaut Power also has an automotive design-and-build division called Track Vehicle Group that can design and build new Mustangs with TVG performance packages or install TVG kits after vehicle purchase…”

Rey and his team are hard at work finalizing the specs on the company’s top-tier Mustang, which is scheduled to appear at this year’s SEMA Show.

“We plan on putting the car to the ultimate test at the Nürburgring test facility in the next six months,” Rey explained. “We will also do extensive testing with high-speed acceleration to make sure the car packs the horsepower that can be repeated over and over without failure.”

To harness the kind of power the Juggernaut Power Alpha Male should put down, the car will need a serious braking system. This is your first look at the Alpha Male’s six-piston monoblock calipers. They will clamp 15 3/8-inch drilled and slotted two-piece brake rotors at each corner.

Of course, you all want to know about the engine combo that will live up to that promise. We don’t have the exact engine specs just yet, but we do know it will be a prepped Coyote boosted by two 64mm turbochargers. Those units will features stainless steel housing and ball bearings on the impellers.

“Let’s just say that it will take 2,000 horsepower at the flywheel with no issues. I hope all those Lambos and GTRs are ready,” Rey said of the engine combo.

That’s a bold statement for sure, and while we don’t have the official horsepower and torque numbers yet, we have learned some of the car’s performance targets. To ensure the car hits these targets, Juggernaut Power has hired some experienced suspension engineers to design and tune the car’s track-ready suspension.

“The car should eclipse pass the 220-mph mark with ease and run 10-second quarter-mile passes with no problem,” Rey said. “Then it can hit a road course and lap the competition with its fully adjustable coil-over suspension while planting large 20-inch wheels on all four corners.”

The tire compound for those 20s is still being dialed in, but we do know that the car’s turbocharged 5.0-liter engine will be backed by a custom 6R80 automatic transmission fitted with a custom torque converter and upgraded with Kevlar clutch packs. It is said be ready for 8,000-rpm shifts, and it will transfer through a carbon-fiber driveshaft, which is one of the items that will help the car loses over 250 pounds versus a stock 2015 Mustang.

Of course, it would be one thing to build an all-out race car with the level of performance that Juggernaut Power is planning. However, the company’s mission is not to build a race car or just another tuner Mustang, but a car that can compete with those in the supercar category.

“The car is being designed and built to be a docile daily until you demand performance by applying weight to the go-fast pedal,” Rey concluded. “We honor and respect the tuner companies that have come before us, but we believe it is time to bring this chassis into the supercar gunfight. We’re coming loaded with plenty of sophisticated, American firepower.”

With lofty goals and an all-American mission, the crew at Juggernaut Power definitely has our attention. The latest Mustang is already an exciting performer, and we can’t wait to see if the company can elevate the S550 platform into the supercar strata.
