Jurrian TerpstraÂ turned his CoyoteÂ into an all-around performer

We each take our own path down the road of automotive addiction. Some folks love all cars, while others lock onto a specific make or model. Most of us reading this site fall into the latter category. Jurian Terpstra loves all cars, but he definitely has a soft spot for Mustangs, and he brought that love into his work at ModBargains.com.
â€œIn 2007 I started working for a car shop that specialized in modifying BMWâ€™s, and over the years I decided to take my knowledge of cars to a larger spectrum at ModBargains. I wanted to work on more than just BMWs, so I decided that ModBargains was the right place to start modifying more than just European cars, but helping the general population including muscle cars, and European cars together,â€ Jurrian said.
Bit by the modding bug in the early 2000s, Jurrian quickly learned that Mustangs and superchargers are fast friends. However, life happened and found himself without a Mustang for a few years. Fortunately, things worked out.
â€œMy wife and I originally owned a 2003 Mustang GT that was slightly modified, had some suspension done but more importantly it had a Kenne Bell Twin Screw on it which really made that car whole,â€ he explained. â€œI was able to finally get myself a Mustangâ€¦ I picked up a 2013 Mustang GT in Deep Impact Blue. I started modifying just weeks after owning the car putting on KW V3 coilovers, putting on Forgestar CF10 wheels with some new rubber and some other goodies here and there.â€
If you arenâ€™t familiar with Jurrianâ€™s workplace, itÂ services Asian, European, and Domestic vehicles. With all those influences swirling around him every day, it was only natural that some would rub off and help steer the path of his latest project.
â€œWorking at ModBargains has given me the ability to immerse myself in not just the American modification scene but also the European and JDM market, which is why on this car you see such a blend of different styles; Primarily American/European. I think this car represents the mixing of the people that we surround ourselves with here,â€ Jurrian said. â€œâ€¦Often times I see companies with sales reps and customer service reps who don’t actually modify cars which I’ve always thought was odd, but here all of our sales reps modify their cars, all of our customer service reps modify their cars, same with our mechanics, and even our product uploaders and web team modify their own cars. Itâ€™s a giant melting pot of different scenes put together to form a team of people who focus on their experience, expertise and enthusiasm to make the world a better place for automotive enthusiasts.â€
Like any project, Jurrianâ€™s Mustang started with the basics and, as most do, it escalated quickly. Those myriad influences started to manifest themselves as the project moved beyond bolt-ons.
â€œAfter some of the smaller mods were put on, I wanted to show my influence of European cars and modify the car in such a way where it had more of a European feel. So when I decided to pull the trigger on the APR widebody kit, I decided to change up the wheels at the same time, and go with Forgestarâ€™s F14 wheels in the super-deep, concave style,â€ Jurrian said. â€œWith much wider fenders we were able to squeeze in 20×10.5 and 20×12 with no problems. Then I realized, shortly after getting the car vinyl wrapped to Avery Grey, that it was time to turn it up again and visit my friends at Vortech to get the car supercharged.â€
Yet with the additional traction afforded by the wider Falken tires on those wheels, the addition of more horsepower from a Vortech supercharger system was welcome. Based on the V-3 Si blower with a 3.6-inch pulley, this kit delivers over 8 pounds of intercooled boost. Combined with its included fuel system upgrades and preloaded SCT calibration, this kit is said to take the Coyoteâ€™s output beyond 600 horsepower.
â€œThe Vortech system really gave new life to the car. She had the looks, she got a lot of attention, but the Vortech system was for me. I wanted the power. I needed the extra power,â€ he said. â€œShortly after that I decided that we needed to change the looks yet another time, so I got in touch with my friends at Airrex and decided we wanted to get the car some airbags to better help our chances of making a big commotion at car shows. Funny enough, just a few days after I decided to put on the Airrex Air suspension, I won the first-place trophy at the Ponies at the Pike Mustang Show in the Extreme Modified class.â€
Though it has the power to back up those show car looks, this widebody S197 could easily be mistaken for a purpose-built trophy magnet. However, Jurrian intends for his low-slung â€™Stang to have a far more well-rounded persona.
â€œ…Though she looks like a show car, the primary intention is for this to be an amazing track car at the end of the day,â€ he added. â€œIâ€™m currently in communication with a few cage builders around the area, and hopefully soon, possibly around July we should have a completed interior to go along with the whole package. Sheâ€™s quite a handful, but I have many more things planned in the future.â€
