If you own an EcoBoost Mustang, you know the exhaust note leaves you wanting for a bit more. No matter how many simulated sounds are pumping into the cabin, you want your turbo four-banger to sound a bit more robust. There are numerous aftermarket options to personalize your 2.3-liter’s exhaust note, and the latest is from Hooker’s late-model-oriented Blackheart product line.

The Hooker Blackheart EcoBoost axle-back exhaust systems are available with either polished or black tips. The company promises gains from over 5 to 15 horsepower depending on whether you opt for mufflers or not.

“The Hooker Blackheart axle-back exhaust for the 2015 EcoBoost Mustang is a premium product that maintains a great price. It is constructed of 2.5-inch, lightweight, 18-gauge, 304 stainless steel to maximize strength and durability. The exhaust features quality welds throughout for strength, longevity, and good looks,” says the company. “They are available with either a straight-through muffler or no muffler design that exits into either 4-inch, dual-wall, polished stainless steel tips or satin black powdercoated tips, both laser-etched with the Hooker Blackheart logo. Tube geometry is optimized for maximum ground clearance and retains the use of factory mounting points for a hassle-free installation.”

You can hear a comparison of the stock, muffled Blackheart, and no-muffler Blackheart systems right here…

The systems are available with polished tips (PN 70403307-RHKR; $499.95) and without mufflers (PN 70403306-RHKR; $399.95). They are also available with (PN 70403309-RHKR; $599.95) and without (PN 70403308-RHKR; $499.95) mufflers with black tips. The sans muffler design is said to produce gains of 15.63 horsepower and 13.75 lb-ft of torque, while the muffled design is still said to add 5.22 horsepower and 4.55 lb-ft of torque.

The systems are also available with and without mufflers depending on how many dBs you want your 2.3-liter Mustang to put out.
