Ford Performance offers a new kit that puts a rear seat in your GT350R

When it comes to dream cars, the Ford Performance Shelby GT350R is the real deal. It was recently anointed Performance Car of the Year by one of the old-guard buff books, and it definitely deserves the accolades. If you’ve dreamed of owning one of these cars, you have no doubt spent some time dreaming about how you would configure your R-model.
When we killed some productivity using Ford’s online configurator it was easy to check the right boxes: Race Red, Stripe Delete, and the Electronics Package. The latter adds back in air conditioning, an audio system, and Sync 3.0. However, the one thing you can’t order from the factory is a rear seat, and if that bothers you there’s a new solution.
As we learned from the announcement of a Shelby GT350R auctioned at the Cattle Baron’s Ball, Ford Performance Parts was set to offer a rear seat for the R-model Shelby. Now that product is official, as the 2015-2016 Mustang GT350R Rear Seat Installation Kit (PN M-63840-MS; $999) is currently listed on the Ford Performance Parts website.
Naturally, the kit includes the upper and lower rear seat, which is adorned with the signature red stitching found on the Shelby GT350. This kit not only comes with the hardware to install the seat, but it also includes the seat belts to make your R-model’s rear passengers as safe as they would be in a standard GT350.
