There is no doubt that the 435-horsepower 5.0-liter engine that powers the 2015 Mustang GT is a potent powerplant. Even if you don’t own one of the newest Mustangs, this engine still makes for a great horsepower transplant. However, the engine is unique enough that it has its own electronic requirements.

Ford Performance’s 2015 Mustang GT 5.0L Engine Controls Pack (PN M-6017-504V; $1,999) includes everything you need to install a modern 5.0-liter engine in any vehicle, including a PCM, an electronic throttle pedal, a unique wiring harness, a power distribution module, an air box, an air inlet tube, a mass-air sensor, and the oxygen sensors.

As such, you can’t use the existing Controls Pack for 2011-2014 5.0-liter engine. Fortunately Ford Performance Parts recently released 2015 Mustang GT 5.0L Engine Controls Pack (PN M-6017-504V; $1,999), which helps facilitate the companion 5.0-liter Coyote 435-horsepower Mustang Crate Engine (PN M-6007-M50A; $7,400).

The kit includes a PCM with a unique calibration, an electronic throttle pedal, a unique wiring harness, a power distribution module, an air box, an air inlet tube, a mass-air sensor, and oxygen sensors. The harness is set up for a streamlined installation like a street rod or race car and the calibration is designed for return-style fuel system.

This system follows in the footsteps of the aforementioned Controls Pack for the earlier Coyote engines, but this latest version must be pretty great, because it scored from hardware from the Specialty Market Equipment Association.

If you want to install the 2015-spec, 435-horsepower 5.0-liter Crate Engine (PN M-6007-M50A; $7,400) into an earlier Mustang or other vehicle, Ford Performance Parts offers a new Controls Pack to get the job done

“Out of nearly 2000 new product entries, our 2015 Coyote Controls Pack was selected as one of the 2015 Global Media Awards winners by 33 judges from 19 countries around the world,” says Ford Performance.

Likewise, this new Controls Pack is part of Ford Performance Parts new Coyote Power Module (PN M-9000-PMCM) includes, which also includes a 2015 Coyote 5.0, a Tremec six-speed, a bellhousing, a clutch, a lightweight billet flywheel, a Boss alternator and a power steering mount.

During a recent trip to the Motor City we actually spied this Controls Pack while it was undergoing validation. It is really meant to facilitate the swap of the latest 5.0 engine into earlier cars, but Ford Performance engineers had access to this late-S197, so they swapped out the factory wiring for the prototype Controls Pack.
