Event: Mustang Week 2016, Day 3

Smokin’ Hot

The autocross, burnout contest, and speedway fun runs drew big crowds

By Steve Turner

While the massive Meet ’N Greet kicked off the official events in style, Mustang Week really hit its stride yesterday at Myrtle Beach Speedway. Attendees and vendors filled the circle track to take advantage of some fast driving in a safe and legal environment capped off by some copious displays of tire smoke during the SVTPerformance burnout contest.

SVTP sold a ton of its popular I Survived Mustang Week shirts, so if you want one of these you better hit our display early at the show on Friday. While you are there you can pick up a wristband for Ready To Rock Night.

Throughout the day, Mustang Week attendees were able to take advantage of both an autocross course and fun runs on the oval track. The latter proved more popular, as there was always a huge line of cars waiting to tear around the oval, but the autocross had a steady stream of cars as well.

Aside from the participatory events, the oval track was occasionally closed down so Formula Drift stars Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Justin Pawlak could wow the crowd with their car control and tire-shredding abilities.
