Here at SVTP we like to take things up a notch. You know how it is. Fast isn’t fast enough. Powerful isn’t powerful enough. That’s just the way it goes when you are addicted to Ford performance like we are. As such, we couldn’t just let an epic event like Mustang Week go off without a few enhancements.

The SVTP nation in town for Mustang Week made a strong early showing at our second-annual Welcome to Mustang Week party. The great thing about the event is you could stop by and visit for a long time or a little while. We got to visit with several members and talk cars, which is always a fun time.

Now for those that don’t know, SVTP headquarters is in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Of course, Mustang Week is held in Myrtle as well. So, we have a bit of a home-field advantage when it comes to hosting a few events. It seemed only fitting that we host an informal pre-event gathering for those that get into town before the official events take place.

As such, we worked out a special menu and drink specials with our friends at Spanky’s Pub for our second-annual Welcome to Mustang Week party. As it turned out, the event grew in its second year, with SVTPers showing up nearly an hour and a half before the scheduled start time of 6 p.m.

Between drinks and delicious pulled pork/mac ’n cheese egg rolls we captured a few shots of the event, so check them out and stay tuned this week as we recap every day of Mustang Week 2014.

Who doesn’t love a Terminator Mustang? We certainly do. When it comes to Mystichrome and Competition Orange versions of this powerful snake, we definitely have a soft spot for these rare snakes.

A big hit at the Welcome party was Jeff Scofield’s murdered-out Shelby. This heavily modded GT500 is bad to the bone. It is so nice we are hoping to shoot a full feature on the car for SVTP!

Looking for a sweet deal on a sharp Coyote Mustang? Well, the SVTP GT is for sale, and it was on display by the road to help attendees easily spot the Spanky’s parking lot. Just behind the GT is your editor’s Mustang Week chariot—a 2014 Fiesta ST.

Even your author’s old compatriot from the magazine world brought his raggedy Fox out to the SVTP party! (Just kidding, Michael Johnson. It was great seeing you at Mustang Week.)

While we obviously have SVT in our name, we have to keep reminding people that we are about all Ford performance. This shot shows that variety clearly. There’s a Coyote GT, a Terminator, and an S197 Shelby right in a row. We also had everything from Foxes to New Edge GTs on hand. The variety was great.

Sometimes it is hard to beat clean and simple. A new Mustang GT with a sharp set of wheels will get our attention every time.

We had a great time at the Welcome party, and if you ever in Myrtle Beach, you can’t go wrong stopping by Spanky’s. The food is tasty and the staff is friendly.
