Through the Looking Glass

Take an in-depth look inside S550 development

By Steve Turner

Soon enough we’ll be able to experience the vehicle the Ford’s designers and engineers put so much effort into. For now, however, we can take another in-depth look at the development of the all-new 2015 Mustang thanks to a great video from the folks at Fast Lane Daily.

Of course, besides hearing from the insiders that make this car possible, our favorite part of the video is this excellent demonstration of the Line Lock feature.

Now we have all seen the brilliant, Ford-produced videos by now. However, this vid gives us an even deeper look at the people behind the car. Sure we hear from main men like Dave Pericak (Mustang Chief Engineer) and Doyle Letson (Chief Designer, Global Interiors), but we also get some perspective from the people on their teams, which is really cool.

During this 17-plus minutes of heaven, we do learn a bit too. We always heard that the new Performance Pack GT would be faster around a road course than a standard 2012-2013 Boss 302, but we had never heard by how much. Well, in this video we learn that it is 1 second quicker around “the track,” presumably Ford’s development course. Either way, that is pretty impressive.

Without further adieu, check out this great video:

Even if you aren’t an S550 fanboy, you have to admit that Ford’s designers and engineers put a lot of effort and passion into the development of this next-gen Pony car.
