Order Up

Ford Performance is now taking pre-orders for its turnkey road-race S550

By Steve Turner

Though no real details are available yet, our friends at Ford Performance have quietly started taking orders for their first purpose-built, turnkey S550 Mustang designed for road racing.

You can now order the next-gen Ford Performance road-racing Mustang from your local Ford Performance Racing Parts dealer under part number M-FR500-B302S.
You can now order the next-gen Ford Performance road-racing Mustang from your local Ford Performance Racing Parts dealer under part number M-FR500-B302S. How Ford Performance will mod the new chassis for road racing remains to be seen, but we can’t wait to see what it comes up with.

“Ford Racing road-race Mustangs are factory-built race cars, ready for track days and road racing in a number of SCCA and NASA classes,” says the product description. “No specifications, pricing or vehicle name information is available at this time.”

The successor to the outgoing Boss 302S Mustang, the new factory-prepped corner carver is now available from your local Ford Performance dealer as a 2016 Road Race Mustang Placeholder Order (M-FR500-B302S; $89,995). As such, we can imagine it taking the familiar prepped Boss experience to a new level allowed for by the S550 and its various chassis and suspension improvements.

There aren’t any details yet on the Boss 302S successor, but we can only imagine it will be an even-more capable track star.

So, if you want to order one of these hot handlers, just tell your Ford Racing dealer to place an order with the aforementioned part number and provide the following info: dealer name, P&A Code, name of dealer contact, phone number, and e-mail address. If you do get in this line, they will get back to you when pricing and specs are available.

Obviously, we will let you know when we find out more about these cars. We look forward to learning whether they will be based on the Mustang GT or the top-shelf GT350. Whatever the basis, the new Ford Performance road-race Mustangs should be available in the first quarter of 2016, which is corporate speak for within the first three months of next year.
