We love the Boss 302 for many reasons. Not only did it achieve the pinnacle of factory S197 handling, but it featured a number of unique features. One of its signature facets is a side-exit exhaust, which had removable block-off plates that would release its true quad-exhaust sound.

Want a Boss 302-style side-exit exhaust for your 2015-and-up Mustang GT? Ford Racing has the kit for you.

Though the S550 may have surpassed the Boss when it comes to handling, thus far you can’t order one with a side-exit exhaust. Well, our friends at Ford Performance Racing Parts have come to the rescue with a new X-pipe and side-exit exhaust kit (M-5220-M8; $1,195) for the latest Mustang.

With this system, you simply cut out the suitcase/H-pipe and clamp on this X-pipe and side-pipes. This will save you a trip to the muffler shop, but don’t think it won’t be durable. It is built from 409 stainless steel, while the polished tips are 309 stainless.

As cool as the side-exit system is, you might not want a quad-outlet system. If you just want to convert your exhaust to a high-flow X-pipe, Ford Performance Racing Parts also has a new X-pipe (M-5251-M8; $269) for the 2015 Mustang GT. Like the side-exit system, it allows you to cut the stock system, remove the suitcase, and clamp on a high-flow X-pipe.

We know that a RoadRunner with an X-pipe and a side-exit sounds great, so we can’t wait to hear one of these systems on the latest Mustang.

Even if you don’t want a side-exit system, you can lose the bulky suitcase and replace it with Ford Racing’s X-pipe kit.
